- Yogurt (3 cups)
- Black Lentil (2 cups, soaked overnight and washed properly)
- Split Moong beans (2 cups, soaked overnight and washed properly)
- Cumin Seeds (2 tea spoons, roasted and grinned)
- Oil (2 cups)
- Salt (according to taste)
- Cilantro (finely chopped, half cup)
- Red chili powder (1 tea spoon)
- Serrano peppers/Green Chilies (1 tea spoon)
- Green Onions (2 strands, finely chopped)
- Tamarind Sauce (1 table spoon mixed with 2 table spoon water and 1 table spoon sugar)
- Lime Juice (1 table spoon)
Directions:
- Grind soaked and washed lentils into semi-thick paste.
- Add salt (around 2 pinches) and mix until it becomes nice and fluffy.
- Heat oil and make small golden brown patties out of the mixture. Make sure to sprinkle a pinch of cumin powder for each patty.
- Shimmer 8-10 cups of water and dip fried patties. Turn off the stove and put it aside for 20 minutes.
- In the meantime, whisk yogurt, lime juice, salt, 1/2 cup of water and 1 table spoon of cumin powder until it is nice and smooth.
- Now, take out patties from hot water and drain excess water out of it. You can use paper towel or any kind of clean cloth.
- Dip patties in yogurt sauce and refrigerate it for 45 minutes.
- Place patties on a serving bowl and pour yogurt sauce. Sprinkle cumin powder, red chili powder, green chilies, green onion, cilantro and tamarind sauce.
